No trip to the Northeast Georgia History Center would be complete without
a visit to our unique Gift Shop. Featuring a wide variety of books, crafts,
and food items from the North Georgia region, our gift shop lets you extend
your visit by taking home a little bit of the North Georgia mountain.
Books
Our book section features a variety of subjects including history, photo
essays, cookbooks, humor, ecology, and of course children’s titles.
Among the North Georgia authors represented are Gordon Sawyer, Phil Jackson,
Zell Miller, Jim Chapman, John Burrsion, Linda Rucker Hutchens, Ella Wilmont-Smith,
and Steve Gurr.
Folk Pottery
Folk pottery plays a major role in the history of North Georgia and it
has a prominent place in our Gift Shop as well. Traditional potting families
are represented such as the Hewells, the Meaders, and the Cravens. Also
included are modern pieces by traditional potters such as Michael Crocker,
Dwayne Crocker, and Steve Turpin. Contemporary studio potters of North
Georgia are represented by Bob Westervelt and the ladies of Gourdcraft
Originals.
Of course there are many other gift items to satisfy every need. The
kids will love our large selection of toys, puzzles, and books. A tempting
selection of private label jams, jellies, and relishes is sure to please.
Handcrafted jewelry, glass objects, and textiles please the most discriminating
shopper. And don’t forget our one of a kind note cards and CD’s.
Stop by for a little piece of Northeast Georgia for yourself or for that
special someone.
